doula services

A doula is a support person who provides physical, emotional and informational care throughout the journey of labour and birth. This includes offering comfort measures during labour, helping the birthing person and partner feel grounded, and ensuring they have access to the information needed to make confident decisions. A doula does not provide medical advice or perform medical tasks, but instead brings advocacy, presence, and reassurance to one of life’s most significant passages.

Birth is a rite of passage into parenthood. A doula understands the sacredness of this transition, supporting both the birthing person and their partner with compassion and respect. With experience in familyhood and the journey of raising children, a doula holds the bigger picture while honouring the intimate and unique nature of each birth.

Choosing the right doula is a deeply personal decision. That is why a complimentary 45-minute consultation is offered as a space to connect, ask questions, and explore if the support feels aligned. There is no obligation to commit, only the opportunity to meet and begin the conversation.

FAQ

  • A doula is a trained support person who provides physical, emotional, and informational care during pregnancy, labour, and birth. This includes offering comfort measures throughout labour and delivery, recognizing birth as a profound life experience, and helping ensure you have the information you need to make confident decisions. A doula’s role is not medical but rather supportive, compassionate, and empowering.

  • As part of doula care, you can expect:

    • Two prenatal meetings: The first is to help you prepare for the journey ahead, explore your hopes and expectations for birth, and check in on your overall well-being. The second provides an overview of what to expect during the natural progression of labour and delivery, along with clarity on where the doula’s role fits within your birth plan.

    • On-call support: Your doula will be on call for you 24/7 from four weeks before your estimated due date until after your birth, ready to join you when labour begins.

    • Continuous labour support: From the first signs of labour through delivery, your doula will be present to offer hands-on comfort measures, advocacy, reassurance, and support for both you and your partner.

    • One postpartum visit: After your baby arrives, your doula will meet with you again to check in, process your birth experience, and ensure you feel supported as you transition into this new chapter.

  • A birth doula does not provide medical care. This means no medical advice, no clinical examinations, and no medical decision-making on your behalf. Instead, the doula’s role is to stand alongside you and your partner, offering steady support, encouragement, and guidance so that you feel informed and empowered throughout the process.

  • Currently, doula services offered by Anna are at a reduced rate of $500, as she completed her final certification. In exchange, families are asked to provide written feedback about their experience. This is both an important step in certification and a heartfelt way of expressing gratitude for being part of such a sacred time in your life.

  • Every single woman going through the pregnancy and birthing process (and beyond) needs a doula. This is the missing piece between the current medical system and the family system, where the doula will guide you to complete the support system for one of the most important life changes for both you, the family and the child.

  • Yes. Anna currently offers a free 45-minute consultation. Choosing the right doula is a deeply personal decision, and this session is a chance to connect, ask questions, and explore if the support feels aligned. There is no obligation to commit, only the opportunity to meet and begin the conversation.
