SHANNoN FOSTER
(She/Her)
Reg. Psychologist, RCC, CCC
Shannon holds a Master of Counselling degree and is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) in British Columbia, a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), and a Registered Psychologist in Alberta. With nearly 20 years of experience, she has worked with adolescents, adults, couples, and families facing a wide range of mental health and relationship challenges.
Shannon has extensive experience supporting individuals and families affected by eating challenges/disorders across the lifespan, including eating and body image concerns in adolescents and adults. She also works with anxiety, depression, ADHD, stress, self-esteem, and emotion regulation. Another important part of her practice is couples counselling, where she helps partners improve communication, work through conflict, rebuild trust, and strengthen their emotional connection.
Her approach is warm, collaborative, and evidence-based. Shannon draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method, Family-Based Treatment (FBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and mindfulness-based approaches. She tailors therapy to the needs of each individual, couple, or family.
Shannon believes therapy works best when people feel genuinely heard, understood, and comfortable being themselves. She strives to create a welcoming, non-judgmental space where clients can explore what is getting in the way and feel supported in creating meaningful change.
Having divided her time between Calgary and Golden for many years, Shannon has developed a genuine appreciation for the community and the lifestyle that makes Golden such a special place. She is excited to bring her experience from larger urban mental health settings to the area.
